... who we are and what we do

BWK - BildungsWerk in Kreuzberg ("Kreuzberg Educational Works") is an independent qualification and learning centre, especially for vocational training and education. Our company consists of three operating sites in Berlin.

The grand majority of our courses is specially designed for the benefit of socially disadvantaged or unemployed youngsters and young adults.

Furthermore BWK takes a stake in different EU Programmes, such as Leonardo-da-Vinci, Sokrates, YOUTH, Equal and different budget lines of the European Commission. (Especially EUROPEAID)

We closely co-operate with educational institutions of the member-states of the European Union and the candidate countries. We also maintain links to the Turkish educational system.

It is our aim to interchange know-how and experience, to examine new and innovative approaches to education in order to introduce such to our own structures.

Together with our international partners we presently work on projects enhancing entrepreneurship, social competence and improvement of customer-related communication. We also develop improved instruments and methods for the professionalizing of apprenticeships in foreign businesses, as well as for the coaching of foreign start-up businesses.

Starting in 1985 we have provided training courses in different trades, always in consideration of the current labour market. Our aim is to provide the participants of our courses with qualifications and skills, enabling them to successfully integrate themselves into the labour market.

We actively support the process of social integration. Approximately 75% of our participants are of different foreign descents with a migrational background. We take measures to ensure a balanced mixture of different ethnic groups within our courses. Highly qualified and motivated teachers, instructors and social workers take pride in this ever-new challenge. Our approach includes professional training as well as language training and social coaching.

Currently some 100 staff care for around 700 participants. We can guarantee for the high quality of our courses in accordance to the international standard DIN EN ISO 9001:2000.
