Job Preparation & Training
In particular in the new millennium, the education and training centre BWK BildungsWerk in Kreuzberg has steadily extended and developed its range of services. Our core competence, however, remains the education and training of young people who are struggling to find a training position on the regular labour market. Our primary goal is to support these young people in such a way that they will be taken over by a company in the free economy, preferably already during their training, or that they can be successfully integrated into work life the latest after completion of their training. This is the goal that our team focuses on together with the vocational training schools and our principals, the Berlin JobCenters and the Employment Agency (Agentur für Arbeit).
We at the BWK have many years of experience with vocational training in six areas: commercial professions, technical-industrial professions, the hotel and restaurant trade, hairdressing and cosmetics, clothing and floristics. As they are well equipped, our workshops and training facilities are regularly used for final examinations by the Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) and the Chamber of Crafts.
Training with deployment abroadA multilingual background and having grown up in two or more cultures are vital resources that constitute a competitive advantage on the labour market, provided they are promoted accordingly. Based on this approach, in 2006 we at the BWK BildungsWerk in Kreuzberg started training hotel specialists who apart from operational phases in Berlin city hotels also complete three-month-long training deployments in major beach hotels in Antalya, Turkey. Here, most trainees have a Turkish or Arabic cultural background. Language lessons and intercultural training prepare the trainees for their stay abroad. The competitive advantage has already borne fruit among the trainees who completed the first round of training: Many of them even had job offers from hotels, also outside Germany, before their final examination. Based on the experiences with the hotel business training, in 2009 the BWK started training in the field of commerce (Management assistants for retail services and Wholesale and foreign trade clerks - Kaufleute im Einzelhandel sowie im Großund Außenhandel) which includes working and learning stays in both Istanbul and in Torquay (UK). Also here the focus is on strengthening intercultural and linguistic resources which constitute a huge plus in view of today’s globalised markets and the internationalisation of large trade corporations. As a partner, we were able to secure the Metro Group, a global player with worldwide presence. |
